英文摘要Voltage-gated KCNQ1 potassium channel is predominately expressed in cardiac tissue. Being the alpha subunit, KCNQ1 co-assembles with its auxiliary subunit, KCNE1, to form a channel complex. The complex constitutes one slow delayed rectifier current known as IKs. IKs is partly responsible for terminating of the cardiac potential. Mutations of KCNQl genes that result in reduction or loss of channel activity cause long QT syndrome, a life - threatening cardiac disease, which includes serious arrhythmia, ventricular fibrillation and sudden death. Activators have been an attractive strategy to rescue the dysfunction of KCNQl channels. This paper reviews the current knowledge about physiological function and small chemical modulators of KCNQ1 channel.
