英文摘要PURPOSE:To improve secondary harmonic conversion efficiency by providing two types of optical resonators having lasing function and a ring type optical resonator function, and disposing the former optical waveguide on both sides of the latter optical waveguides in close vicinity of the latter. CONSTITUTION:Optical waveguides 2, 3-1, 3-2 are formed into a square shape on the same plane on a substrate That is, a square-shaped ring type resonator is formed. The laser resonator 3-2 is adapted to lack at its one corner and have a resonator function by reflection at its end surfaces, and lasing is induced in the optical waveguides of the ring type optical resonator 3-1 and the resonator 3-2. Laser light energy is propagated into the optical waveguide of the ring resonator 2 coupled optically to the formers. Accordingly, secondary harmonic is generated in the resonator 2 by the laser light propagated in the resonator 2, and laser light induced by optical coupling is substantially completely confined in the resonator 2. Thus, secondary harmonic conversion efficiency is improved.
