英文摘要PURPOSE:To rapidly change the spectrum line width of an external resonator type laser by controlling the light feedback quantity of the laser by an optical switch. CONSTITUTION:The titled circuit has an active area 2 to be a light emitting part, a three-dimensional optical waveguide 3, an electric control type 2X2 optical switch 4, and a photodetector 5. One of outputs from the optical switch 4 is reached to the photodetector 5 and used as a monitor for an optical output, the other is reflected by a reflecting film 6, returned again to the active part 2 and used as feedback light, but a part of the reflected light is projected to the outside through the optical switch 4. In this case, laser oscillation can be generated as an external resonator using one end face 8 of the light emitting part 2 and the reflecting film 6 as end faces. Since the light feedback quantity to the light emitting part 2 can be changed by controlling the optical switch, the spectrum line width can be changed as occasion demands.
