| 英文摘要 | PURPOSE:To realize a transverse fundamental supermode oscillation used to obtain a single- ridged far field pattern without setting a width, an interval and a refractive index difference of stripes to be small by a method wherein at least one current non-injection light waveguide is installed in a region adjacent to at least one side out of right and left sides of a group of amplification waveguides composed of light waveguides for light amplification use. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of light waveguides 32 for light amplification use are provided; one each of current non-injection light waveguides 34 are installed in regions adjacent to right and left sides of a group of amplification waveguides composed of the waveguides 32. An electric current is injected into the light waveguides 32; accordingly, a carrier is injected; a gain contributing to an amplification of light is generated. On the other hand, the electric current is not injected into the current non-injection light waveguides 34; accordingly, a small number of carriers are not supplied substantially; the gain contributing to the amplification of light is not generated in the current non-injection waveguides 34; only light is absorbed. Accordingly, it is possible to make a gain in a fundamental mode larger than a gain in a high-order mode in the individual light waveguides 32 for amplification use; an oscillation threshold current in the high-order mode is made larger than an oscillation threshold current in the fundamental mode; an oscillation only in the fundamental mode can be realized. |
