英文摘要 | PURPOSE:To convert the wavelength of a fundamental wave with relatively low output and to project converted-wavelength light with high output in a specific direction by providing a ring-shaped main optical waveguide having a phase matching part which generates higher harmonic light or sum frequency light approximately under the phase matching conditions of the fundamental wave. CONSTITUTION:The fundamental wave which is propagated in an incidence-side optical waveguide 13 provided to a substrate 11 is propagated by optical coupling to the ring-shaped main optical waveguide 12 with extremely low loss. Then the fundamental wave which is propagated in the ring-shaped main optical waveguide 12 satisfies the phase matching conditions approximately by the phase matching part 12f to generate higher harmonics, etc., without Cherenkov radiation. Consequently, the fundamental wave is amplified with high efficiency and converted into the higher harmonics, etc., with high efficiency and the higher harmonics with high output can be projected in a specific direction without being diffused. |
