英文摘要PURPOSE:To control a current density in a laser diode and to move the position of the luminous point of a beam by a method wherein the chip of the laser diode is arranged in a coil for magnetic field generation use. CONSTITUTION:A chip 6 of a laser diode is arranged in a spiral cylindrical coil 8. A drive current in the diode is made to flow in a waveguide 7 and electrons in the waveguide 7 are uplifted to an excited state. In this state, when a magnetic field is applied in parallel to the direction of a beam by the coil 8, the current which is made to flow in the waveguide 7 is biased in the left and right directions by a hole effect. When the current in the coil 8 is increased and the intensity of the magnetic field is increased, a bias of a current density is also increased and the movement of the luminous point of the beam is also increased. The position of the luminous point of the laser diode can be controlled by changing the direction and magnitude of the current which is made to flow through the external coil 8.
