英文摘要PURPOSE:To align an optical axis by using a simple and easy constitution by a method wherein signal light is input from an edge on the side opposite to a semiconductor laser so as to sandwich a photodetector. CONSTITUTION:A semiinsulating InP layer 18 is formed on a light waveguide layer 15 situated on a secondary diffraction grating 13 so as to bury the side part of an active layer 16 and a clad layer 17; an n-type InP layer 19, an InGaAs light-absorbing layer 20 and a p-type InP clad layer 21 are formed on its surface; a photodetector(PD) is formed on a substrate 1 The right-side edge, i.e., the edge on the side opposite to a laser for local oscillation use so as to sandwich the photodetector, is coated with a reflectionless film 22. Signal light is input through the reflectionless film 22. Thereby, an optical axis can be aligned by using a simple and easy constitution;an integration-type coherent light receiver whose long-term stability and receiving sensitivity are excellent can be realized.
