英文摘要 | REFLECTIVE DIGITALLY TUNABLE LASER ABSTRACT A tunable laser formed on a semiconductive wafercomprising a plurality of monolithically integratedoptical amplifiers and a planar optical multiplexer isdisclosed. According to the invention, one of the opticalamplifiers is activated by energy, which amplifierproduces a signal. The signal is carried along awaveguide associated with the optical amplifier and entersa reflective Dragone router, which is the preferredoptical multiplexer. The reflective Dragone routerfunctions, in conjunction with the activated opticalamplifier, to define a wavelength selective opticallytransmissive pathway to create lasing action. Facetmirrors are cleaved in the semiconductive wafer definingthe lasing cavity which includes the optical amplifiers,associated waveguides and the reflective Dragone router. |
