| 英文摘要 | PURPOSE:To introduce light into an external medium with high efficiency by providing a mode filter region which is constituted so as to inflict loss to a predetermined transmission mode, and applying magnetic field to an optical waveguide layer coupled with an emitted light. CONSTITUTION:A mode filter region is constituted so as to inflict loss to a predetermined transmission mode of light propagating in a first optical waveguide layer arranged in the manner to couple with the emitted light from a laser region. A second optical waveguide region is arranged so as to couple with the output light from the mode filter region, and the composition of the region is so determined that the plane of polarization of propagating light is rotated. A magnetic field applying part B is constituted of a magnet or an electromagnet in order to rotate the plane of polarization of the optical waveguide layer. A semiconductor element part A and the applying part B apply magnetic field component nearly parallel with an optical axis to a second optical waveguide layer, and the intensity of the magnetic field can be adjusted by changing an angle beta. By changing the intensity of the magnetic field in this manner, the emitted light is effectively introduced into external medium. |
