英文摘要 | A method and apparatus for monitoring the optical power output of a VCSEL (1) uses refracted ray (54) coupling to direct rays (54) refracted out of an optical transmission medium, towards a photodetector (3). The photodetector (3) is coupled to feedback circuitry and laser control circuitry capable of adjusting the VCSEL (1) based on the monitored power output. A portion of the rays (54) that enter optical fiber (7) are refracted out of the optical fiber (7) by means of high-index materials (15) and directed toward the photodetector (3) by reflective surfaces (30) situated around the coupling region in which the VCSEL (1) is coupled to the optical fiber (7). |
