| 英文摘要 | Rock bolts are widely used in mining and geotechnical engineering as ground support. Research in non-destructive rock bolt testing to determine the bolt defects and bolt performance has been going on for several decades. Tension and grout quality are the most concerned in evaluating the bolt performance. The unique condition in the field where a long bolt has only one short exposed end makes the research very difficult. Although some progress has been made in recent years, there are still lots of research to be done before reaching the goal. This paper presents the on-going research at Dalhousie University. The research starts with understanding the characteristics of guided ultrasonic waves in free and grouted rock bolts using a transmission-through setup. Based on the results, the effects of grout quality and bolt tension are being investigated and methods for field implementation are being explored at present. The research involves laboratory experiments and numerical simulation with specified frequencies for the input waves. Recent results on grout quality and bolt tension are presented. |
