英文摘要 | Besides mineral composition analysis, rock mechanical parameters mainly evaluate rock brittleness. In this study, a straightforward method is used to evaluate the shale brittleness only considering the pre–peak stress–strain curves of compression experiments. This method shows an agreement with the traditional method dependent on uniaxial compressive and tensile strength. A case of “Longmaxi shale” in Sichuan basin, China using the surface crack of failure samples evaluated this new straightforward method. © 2017 Aussino Academic Publishing House (AAPH).
