A Compact Multiband Quasi-Optical System for Plasma Detection

英文摘要 | With the increased plasma frequencies, millimeter wave diagnose of plasma over a broadband range is technically preferred. This article describes the design, fabrication, and measurement of a compact triband quasi-optical system covering 33-110 GHz for the EAST tokamak plasma detection. The overall size of the quasi-optical system is 300 mm by 300 mm. Two broadband frequency selective surfaces are implemented with patch-grid structure to separate the signal to the Q-band, V-band, and W-band. A trade-off is made between the selectivity and bandwidth. Horn antennas are designed based on a multiflare structure to produce good Gaussian beam radiation. The measured results agree well with the simulated ones. The overall transmission loss of the whole system is better than 3 dB in the Q-band and V-band, and it is better than 7 dB in the W-band. The system has been deployed on EAST tokamak for real-time plasma detection. |
