Simulation of effects of grain scale on Al polycrystal strength using strain gradient plasticity concept

英文摘要By using the classical plasticity theory and the micro-mechanism-based strain gradient (MSG) plasticity theory, the stress-strain relationships of Al polycrystals with different grain sizes were simulated. The results indicated that the work hardening in the stress strain curves predicted by the strain gradient constitutive equation evidently increases with the decrease of grain size. The stress-strain curve for the polycrystal with grain diameter d=20 mu m is slightly above that predicted by classical plasticity theory, showing further that with the increase of grain size the contribution of strain gradient is decreased. At the same time, the fitting curve of the yield strength vs grain size is comparatively consistent with the Hall-Petch ralationshop.
