Effects of trace C element on the microstructure and mechanical properties of NiAl

英文摘要The effects of alloying with small amount of C on the microstructure and mechanical behavior of NiAl were studied. The results indicate that the microstructure of the as-cast NiAl is composed of single-phase NiAl. The grain size of landscape orientation reduces with increasing the C content. It is found that a certain level of C addition can reduce the hardness and yield strength of the polycrystalline NiAl alloys, i.e., a phenomenon of alloy softening.
