Synthesis of AlON Powder by Aluminothermic Reduction and Its Thermodynamic Analysis

英文摘要 | Micro-sized Al powder and nano-sized alumina powder were employed as starting materials, milled together and then calcined in nitrogen atmosphere to synthesize ALON powder by aluminothermic reduction method. The course of AlON synthesis was investigated. The results show that AlON phase was formed at the temperature range of 1873 similar to 4923 K. Single phase AlON powder was fabricated at 2023 K for 2 h in nitrogen. Gibbs energy of AlON was calculated by a thermodynamic quasi-parabola rule. Consequently, the conversion temperature of AlON phase formation was determined as 1887K. According to the thermodynamic analysis, it was concluded that under the effect of temperature and atmosphere, each phase exhibited different thermodynamic behavior in the process of AlON synthesis, which would change the eutectic composition of the resulted single phase AlON powder. The theories coincided with the experimental results in this paper. |
