Synergism of NaCl and SO2 in the initial atmospheric corrosion of A3 steel

英文摘要The influence of NaCl and lower concentration Of SO2 on the initial atmospheric corrosion of A3 steel at 25 degreesC and 80% relative humidity (RH) was investigated. The results show that NaCl and SO2 can obviously accelerate the corrosion of A3 steel respectively. The combined effect of NaCl and SO2 on the initial corrosion of A3 steel is greater than that caused by each single component. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy and electron dispersion X-ray analysis (SEM/EDAX) were used to characterize the corrosion products of A3 steel. A probable mechanism is presented to explain the experimental results.
