Microstructural stability and creep properties of intermetallic TiAl(W, Si, B) alloy

英文摘要Microstructure, thermal stability and creep properties of cast intermetallic Ti-45Al-2W-0.5Si-0.5B (ABB-23) have been investigated. The results show that, during long-term aging at 800 and 900 degreesC, microstructural instabilities occur in the ABB-23 alloy, including breaking and mergence of alpha(2) laths, transformation of alpha(2) phase to B2 phase, spheroidization and coarsening of needle-like B2 phase, formation of equiaxed gamma grain in lamellar area, and increasing of lamellar spacing. Addition of B is demonstrated to be beneficial to the thermal stability of the alloy by comparing with its B-free counterpart ABB-2 alloy. The ABB-23 alloy shows superior creep-resistant ability in the temperature range of 700-800 degreesC over density-correct corrosion-resistant superalloy IN738LC. Additionally, its creep properties at high-temperature were also compared with other TiAl based alloys.
