Fabrication and plastic behavior of tungsten fiber reinforced ZrAlNiCuSi bulk metallic glass matrix composite

英文摘要Tungsten fiber (W-f) reinforced ZrAlNiCuSi metallic glass composites were fabricated by melt infiltrating casting method, and their plastic behaviors under compression were investigated. Wf reinforcement increased compressive strain to failure by over 600% compared to the unreinforced ZrAlNiCuSi bulk metallic glass. The increase in compressive toughness comes from the fibers restricting shear band propagation, promoting the generation of multiple shear bands and additional fracture surface area. The compressive failure mode changed from a single shear band to multiple shear bands and to localized fiber bucking and tilting as Wf volume fraction increasing. The reason for the increased plastic properties was discussed.
