Rohdea Roth (1821: 196) is originally described as a monotypic genus with one species R. japonica (Thunberg in Murray 1784: 340) Roth (1821: 196) from Japan. Recently, two genera Campylandra Baker (1875: 582) and Gonioscypha Baker (1875: 581) have been merged with Rohdea (Tanaka 2003), and Rohdea becomes a genus with more than 20 species distributing in subtropical or warm temperate regions of Asia, encompassing China, Japan, Bhutan, Nepal, India, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam (Liang & Tamura 2000; Tanaka 2010a; Averyanov et al. 2014, 2017, 2020; Tanaka et al. 2018; Nguyen 2021). Approximately 15 species (about three quarters of the total species) of Rohdea are concentrated in SW China (Tanaka 2010a), implying that SW China is the primary center for diversification of the genus (Tanaka et al. 2018). Rohdea is traditionally placed in the Convallarieae of the Convallariaceae (Conran & Tamura 1998) or in the A new species, Rohdea changii, is described from NW Yunnan, China. It is somewhat similar to R. nepalensis, R. siamensis and R. wattii in sharing the character of the long bracts exceeding the flowers, but differs mainly by the oblanceolate leaf blades, acute leaf apices, bracts often distally lobed, oblique-zygomorphic flowers, flowers tuning to nearly white at late and after anthesis, 6 to 9 stamens, and 5-lobed stigmas. The comparison of the new species with R. nepalensis, R. siamensis and R. wattii is reported.
