Leakage detection and long-term monitoring in diaphragm wall joints using fiber Bragg grating sensing technology

英文摘要 | Leakage at the joints is the main cause of failure of diaphragm walls. Early warning of such leakage is essential to ensure the safety and security of the excavation itself and nearby buildings. Leakage through a diaphragm wall joint changes the local temperature field due to convection. Therefore, temperature measurements can reveal information related to leakage. In this paper, an efficient method that provides early warning of such leakage was proposed. The method uses a thermometric technique based on fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensing technology and also allows the diaphragm wall joints to be monitored long-term. To validate the feasibility of using FBG sensing for leak detection and monitoring in diaphragm wall joints, a new laboratory test device which is called a 'leakage detection device based on FBG' was developed. Using this device, the leakage at different locations (depths) within diaphragm wall joints can be simultaneously simulated. Moreover, the occurrence of leakage at each defect can be artificially controlled. In light of the changes observed in the temperature signal corresponding to leakage, the experimental results indicate that using temperature as an indicator of leakage in diaphragm wall joints is very intuitive and effective. According to the temperature distribution along the diaphragm wall joints and the temperature curve generated using the measuring points, the position and time that leakage occurred can be determined. |
