| 英文摘要 | Geological Survey of China (GSC) is the first national research institute of China, and thus represents the intiation of modern science in China. After its foundation in 1913 , GSC made a great achievement in geological investigation and mapping, resource exploration, tectonics, seismology, soil science, palaeontology, and paleoanthropology, etc. Therefore, it was generally thought that GSC was the most prominent Chinese institute in the world before the foundation of the Pepole's Republic of China in 1949. In 1951, GSC was reorganized into Institute of Geology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IGCAS). With addition of some staff from Institute of Geology, Academia Sinica and Mineral Exploration Bureau, the Resource Committee, IGCAS became the biggest geological institution in China in the early 1950's. However, the newly founded IGCAS was shunted in 1952 with the first batch of staff to Institute of Palaeontology (now Nanjing Institute of Geology and Palaeontology), Chinese Academy of Sciences (IPCAS or NIGPCAS) , and then Institute of Soil Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ISSCAS) , and finally to the Ministry of Geology. Nevertheless, GSC was not dissolved in the early 1950's, but continued by the IGCAS, a branch of the present Insitute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IGGCAS). |
