The contamination of coastal environmental waters by organics is increasingly becoming a serious environmental prob lem throughout the world. In recent years, analytical methods of organic pollutants in coastal environmental waters have attracted con siderable attention. Hence, in this review, the research progresses in analytical methods for typical organic pollutants in coastal envi ronmental water samples are addressed from the perspectives of sample pretreatment technique and analytical technique, respectively. The sensing mechanism and application progress of these techniques are mainly introduced. In addition, the further research orienta tions of these methods for organic pollutants are prospected.
