Linked psychopathology-specific factors and individual structural brain abnormalities in schizophrenia

英文摘要 | Numerous studies havedemonstratedsubstantialinter-individualheterogeneityamongpatientswith schizophrenia, which seriously affects the quantification of diagnosis and treatment schema. As likely causes of schizophrenia include environmentalandgeneticfactors,theseheterogeneities mayreflectvariousmorphologicchangesandclinicalsyndromes among different patients. The normative model is a statistical model offering quantitative measurements of abnormal deviationsunderinterindividualheterogeneity.Meanwhile, exploratoryandconfirmatoryfactorialanalysesof thePositive andNegative SyndromeScale (PANSS) could help propose consistent three-factorstructures to factorizesymptomsinto robust cardinal dimensions. Here, we explored the individual-specific associations among morphologic deviations from normative ranges of brain structure and specific symptomatology structure on three dimensions without general disease effects.Specifically,weemployedanexploratorybi-factormodelforthePANSS scaleandbuiltnormativemodelsfortwo cortical measurements: cortical area and thickness. Significant correlations among different cortical measures and latent symptom groups were observed, which could provide evidence to understand the pathophysiology of schizophrenia symptoms. |
