Ce-Modified Mo/gamma-Al2O3 Catalysts for Production of Elemental Sulfur through Reducing SO2

英文摘要A series of metal-modified Mo/gamma-Al2O3 catalysts were fabricated using the impregnation method. The influence of Ce content on the catalytic performance was systematically studied in a fixed-bed reactor. The catalysts were characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller technique. The reduction ability of the catalysts was recorded via H-2 temperature-programmed reduction. The valence state of Mo was raised to 6+ by the addition of Ce. What is more, the effect of temperature and GHSV were considered, and the evaluation of the optimized catalyst life catalyst was tested. A sulfur yield of 88.27% was achieved at 350 degrees C with SO2/H-2 = 1:3.
