Investigating the tribological and corrosive properties of MoS2/Zr coatings with the continuous evolution of structure for high-humidity application

英文摘要Water vapor in high humidity environment will not only degrade the tribological properties of MoS2 coating through its oxidation, but also significantly affect the formation and quality of MoS2 transfer film during friction. To improve the tribological and corrosive properties of the MoS2 coating in high humidity environment, the reactive Zr (zirconium) was skillfully introduced by sputter-depositing. With the introduction of Zr, the structure of coating changes gradually from the composite to the nano-multilayer, and the small-scale modulation period leads to the transformation of MoS2 into amorphous structure. The results show that the optimized Zr doping and special nano-structure improve the quality of the MoS2 transfer film, and the friction coefficient is as low as 0.05 at 78% RH humidity. In addition, the corrosion resistance of MoS2/Zr coating was improved by the formation of Zr oxide and uniform and dense nano multilayer structure. This present work will provide important guidance for understanding and preparing metal doped MoS2 coatings with excellent tribological and corrosive properties for high-humidity application.
