Recent years have seen increased public interest in smart child safety seats (SCSSs), although actual use has lagged behind predictions. We conducted a questionnaire survey among 1,107 respondents from first-tier cities in China to investigate the public acceptance of SCSS. Structured equation modeling validates UTAUT2's applicability to SCSS. Performance expectation, effort expectation, social impact, convenient conditions, and hedonic incentive will have a beneficial influence on the behavioral intention to purchase and utilize SCSS. There is no correlation between age, gender, education level, or the number of trips with children and the regulation of Intended use, although these characteristics do affect the direction of other parameters. Age, gender, education level, and number of trips with children have no substantial influence on behavior intention regulation but do influence the course of some characteristics. With the proliferation of SCSSs, these findings are critical for regulators, governments, manufacturers, and brand boosters. This study explores the implications of these findings for industry investment and promotion, as well as recommendations for the widespread use of SCSSs.
