data-language="eng" data-ev-field="abstract">Purpose: This paper reinterprets the theory of "small self"proposed in the previous awe studies with "quiet ego", and studies the mechanism that awe promotes individual balance and development through the mediating effect of perceived social support and the regulating effect of whether being the only child on the mediating effect. Method: 618 adults were included in the study. The Awe Scale of the Dispositional Positive Emotion Scale, Quiet Ego Scale and Perceived Social Support Scale were adopted. Results: Awe positively affects the level of quiet ego. Perceived social support mediates the relationship between awe and quiet ego. Whether being the only child significantly regulates the effect of awe on perceived social support. Conclusion: Awe has positive influence and transformation effect on many aspects of ego and can promote individual balance and development.
