Enhanced photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants by lysozyme-mediated zinc oxide nanoparticles

英文摘要 | Lysozyme-mediated zinc oxide nanoparticles (LZ NPs) and zinc oxide nanoparticles (Z NPs) were synthesized by a simple wet chemical route for a comparative study of photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants. We used X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, zeta potential measurement, field-emission scanning electron microscopy and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy to characterize the synthesized LZ and Z NPs. The synthesized NPs were utilized for photocatalytic degradation of malachite green (MG) and methylene blue (MB) dyes under UV-light irradiation. The photocatalytic performance showed that LZ NPs exhibited 96.80 and 94.03% degradation of MG and MB dyes in 120 min, respectively. Meanwhile, relatively low photocatalytic degradation efficiency 88.60 and 87.02% were observed with Z NPs for MG and MB dyes in 120 min, respectively. Our results showed enhanced photo-degradation activity of the newly synthesized LZ NPs compared to that of Z NPs. |
