Although the color“green”is more appropriate for the meaning of “recyclable”，recyclable trash cans in Beijing and Shanghai were presented in blue. In this regard，three simulated garbage classification experiments were conducted for two main issues：which of green and blue is more suitable as the color of the recyclable trash can and the logo of the recyclable trash can；the differences between different gender and age. The results found that，as the color of garbage can/logo，green is better than blue for waste sorting efficiency，and this effect is larger among middle aged and elderly population than the others. This research theoretically provided more efficient practical advices for waste sorting polices in China.
