英文摘要In recent decades, extreme events have caused greater damage to the ecosystem and human livelihood. There-fore, assessing variation in such events and their causes is crucial for climate risk management. This study provides a temporal nexus between precipitation extremes with NDVI, monsoon, and oceanic indices that originate from the Pacific Ocean (ENSO, PDO, and PNA) and Atlantic Ocean (AMO, AO, and NAO) over Pakistan during 1961-2017. The non-parametric Mann-Kendall and Sen Slope estimator tests are used to assess significant trends in nine extreme precipitation indices. In addition, wavelet analysis is employed to evaluate the period-icities and possible association of extreme events with NDVI and oceanic indices. The results showed that long-term annual time series in Pakistan exhibit increasing trends in Rx1day, Rx5day, R95p, R99p, PRCPTOT, SDII, R10mm, and CWD, except a decrease in CDD. All indices exhibited significant increasing trends in R-II, III, and the whole country during 1961-2017, except for a decreasing trend in CDD. The probability distribution function in Rx1day, Rx5day, R95p, R99p, PRCPTOT, SDII, and R10mm displayed obvious changes from the first period to the second period, except in CDD and CWD. The Wavelet transform coherence (WTC) indicates a positive coherence of all extreme precipitation indices with NDVI, except CDD and CWD. Moreover, the coherence of the Indian summer monsoon index (ISMI) with Rx1day, Rx5day, and monsoon precipitation demonstrate positive phase relation, whereas the findings of multiple wavelet coherence (MWC) indicate extreme precipitation indices have decadal and inter-decadal coherences with indices from the Atlantic Ocean. In contrast, the indices from the Pacific Ocean have mostly inter-annual coherences. The correlation of individual indices shows that all the oceanic indices are highly influential on Rx1day, Rx5day, R95p, R99p, and PRCPTOT, while partly with the remaining extreme indices. The findings of this study add a better knowledge of the mechanism of extreme precipitation events, which may assist in better understanding and forecasting extreme precipitation occurrences in Pakistan.
