Effect of annealing and build direction on microarc oxidation coatings and its apatite induction ability of Ti6Al4VE alloy manufactured by selective laser melting

英文摘要The influence of annealing and build direction (BD) on the microarc oxidation (MAO) coating was investigated in the Ti6Al4VE alloy manufactured by selective laser melting (SLM). The annealing treatment altered some coating properties of the alloy. However, BD had no regularly effect on the coating. The microstructure of SLM-formed Ti6Al4VE alloy is the key factor that influenced the coating. The passive film with lots of flaws was apt to form at the initial MAO stage due to the fine acicular a' and lamellar a phases in the SLM-formed Ti6Al4VE alloy. These flaws would be beneficial to the formation and growth of the MAO coating. The formation process of MAO coating composed of lath a phase in the microstructure of matrix alloy is more stable. The MAO coatings of SLM-formed Ti6Al4VE after hydrothermal treatment (HT) exhibit outstanding ability of apatite induction capability, and the best alloy is treated by 800 degrees C annealing.
