| 英文摘要 | Using data from 124 economies over the period 1987-2017, this paper investigates the relationships between economic growth, environmental quality, and national health. The empirical results from the system generalised method of moments (GMM) estimators for dynamic panel data suggest that economic growth facilitates improvements in national health standards. However, a worsening in environmental quality results in a decrease in national health standards. In addition, increases in health spending, progress in science and technology, and improvements in capital formation and infrastructure have a positive influence on a country's national health. A rise in industrialisation levels, an increase in debt burden, and financial crises negatively affect a country's national health. These conclusions are shown to be robust across all the different specifications and sub-samples examined. |
