英文摘要Amorphophallus albus is a perennial herb endemic to the dry and hot valleys along the Jinsha River in southwest China, and it’s one of the most important economic crop widely cultivated after A. konjac from the same genus in Araceae in China. Amorphophallus albus has many agronomic characters including high purity and good quality of glucomannan (KGM), light browning, strong disease resistance, high resistance to temperature and drought. However, the wild populations of this species have being heavily harvested due to its high economic value. Meanwhile, the narrowly distribution habitats have also being further damaged by the construction of large hydropower stations on the Jinsha River. Consequently, the populations and individuals of the wild A. albus have been greatly decreased in recent years and the protection of the wild resources based on the integrated study is extremely urgent. Thus, A. albus was targeted as one of 231 plant species for the China National Key Program: Survey and Germplasm Conservation of Plant Species with Extremely Small Populations (PSESP) in Southwest China (2017FY100100) supported by China’s Ministry of Science and Technology. In this study, the current populations and threatened status of A. albus were comprehensively investigated and evaluated, and studies on pollination biology, seed dispersal, genetic diversity and genetic structure were carried out. Meanwhile, the practical conservation actions have been proposed. 1. Investigations on current populations and threatened status assessment Field surveys revealed that only four existing wild populations were found in Jinyang and Butuo County in Sichuan Province. And only one population of them contained has over 500 mature individuals, while the remaining three were all less than 50 mature plants. The estimated extent of occurrence of A. albus is some 242 km2. Meanwhile, A. albus is threatened by human excavation and natural disaster like landslide or debris flow. According to IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria (Version 3.1), the threatened status of A. albus could be assessed as Endangered [EN B1a b (ii+ⅲ+v)+C2a (ii)]. Furthermore, A. albus is also ranked as Plant Species with Extremely Small Populations (PSESP) of China, which needs to take the urgent protection actions. 2. Pollination biology characteristics The experiments indicated that A. albus is a protogynous plant species with a strong stench and higher temperature in its inflorescence during female phase. The maximum temperature of the inflorescence can be 35℃ via infrared thermal imaging camera, which is 10℃ higher than the ambient temperature. Besides, dimethyl disulphide and dimethyl trisulfide are identified as the main floral odor components through GC-MS (gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry) analyzing. The rove beetles from genera of Atheta and Anotylus (Staphylinidae) in the inflorescence of A. albus were the pollinators observed. And it is also proven that the odor, color, and te
