Enhanced magnetic properties and magnetic field induced strain in polycrystalline NiMnGa alloy by electron irradiation

英文摘要High saturation magnetization (Ms) and magnetocrystalline anisotropy constant (Ku) are essential to achieve high magnetic field induced strain (MFIS) in NiMnGa alloys. These magnetic properties are closely related to the local electronic structure and intrinsic magnetic moment. In the present study, point defects were induced by electron irradiation to modify lattice distortion leading to the variation of Mn-Mn atoms. The Ms and Ku were enhanced providing higher driving force for variant movement. Then the MFIS of polycrystalline NiMnGa alloys can be increased from 200 ppm to 700 ppm. This research provides a new idea to enhance magnetic properties and magnetic field induced strain. © 2022 Elsevier B.V.
