AC Losses Properties of Optical Fiber Encapsulated High Temperature Superconducting Conductor on Round Core Cable

英文摘要 | AC loss is one of the most important factors affecting operating states of superconductors. Optical fiber encapsulated (OFE) high temperature superconducting (HTS) conductor on round core (CORC) cable, has an ability of self-quench detection by embedded optical fibers and distributed optical fiber sensing (DOFS) technology. Compared with common HTS CORC cable, the structure of the copper core in OFE-HTS CORC cable has been changed, which may cause variations of the AC losses of the cable. To investigate influences of the encapsulated optical fibers structure on the AC losses of the cables, the transport losses and magnetization losses of OFE-HTS CORC cables are studied by comparing with those of a common one in this paper. The results show that the optical fibers encapsulated structure reduces eddy current density of the copper core, which can slightly decrease both the transport losses and magnetization losses. Besides, with frequencies of the applied current increasing, the AC losses of the cables increase. |
