英文摘要The assessment the influence scope of potential landslides in waste dumps is important to guarantee mine safety and determining safety distance for the expansion design of waste dumps. Based on in-situ investigations of a mine waste dump, a series of physical model tests were done to explore maximum movement distances of landslide-induced debris flow under the end state of the waste dump. Based on the similarity theory, the waste dump slope models were constructed in lab, in which the sands and gravels with varying grain sizes were used. The evolution of safety distances was determined under different waste dump conditions. Considering the complexity of in-situ conditions and the limitation of model tests, a numerical model with the smooth particle method (SPH) was further used to simulate the entire process of landslide collapse and flow of waste dump using measured material parameters. By comparing physical and numerical simulations on predicting the influence scope of potential landslides in waste dumps, the results show that the numerical simulations were basically consistent with that of the model tests. Moreover, the numerical results also indicated that the sliding distance and influence area of the collapsed mass were greatly reduced when the multi-stage check dams were constructed along the downstream of a waste dump. The results from this study can offer a useful strategy to analyze and assess the landslide potential of waste dumps and tailing dams.
