Equivalent relationship of accelerated corrosion based on the chloride ion diffusion property in calcium sulfoaluminate cement-based pastes

英文摘要Accelerated corrosion test is a prevalent method to achieve the effect of long-term corrosion in a shorter duration of time. There are comprehensive analytical formulas for controlling experimental parameters in impressed current (IC) and chloride ion diffusion (CID) methods. However, further investigations are needed to quantify the acceleration effect achieved by increasing the salt concentrations of seawater. In this study, accelerated corrosion tests for 2 years were conducted using artificial seawater solutions with different salt concentrations. The study analyzed the diffusion properties of chloride ions in Calcium sulfoaluminate cement (CSA)-based paste, and determined the evolution law of surface chloride ion concentrations (Cs) and the correlations between bound (Cb) and free chloride ion concentrations (Cf). A chemo-transport model was developed by considering the effects of sulfate attack, chloride ion binding capacity and the time -dependent law of Cs on chloride ions diffusion in seawater with different salt concentrations. Test results of Cf were utilized to validate the model, and the distribution of Cf after 30 years of corrosion was predicted. Finally, this study provided an expression for the distribution of Cf and determined the equivalent acceleration relationship for the accelerated corrosion test. The results indicate that Cs increased exponentially with corrosion age, and the correlation between Cb and Cf can be characterized by Langmuir isotherm in CSA-based materials. Additionally, Cf showed a logarithmic increase as the corrosion age increased at a given depth of corrosion. According to the property of chloride ions diffusion, the calculated acceleration factors were 5.8, 9.7 and 18.8 when the salt concentrations were 3, 5, and 10 times the concentration of the natural seawater, respectively. This study illustrates the diffusion characteristics of chloride ions in CSA-based materials, and the proposed equivalent acceleration relationship can provide a basis for corrosion tests to achieve long-term corrosion performance evolution.
