Boosting dynamic NH3 adsorption performance of UiO-66 via amino-induced local polarization

英文摘要In recent years, the adsorption and separation of ammonia (NH3) from airflow have attracted growing attention. However, there is a need to further enhance the adsorption capacity of adsorbents. In this study, the aminofunctionalization of UiO-66 was investigated to evaluate its dynamic NH3 adsorption performance by varying the type and proportion of organic ligands. It was observed that the introduction of amino groups significantly enhanced the ammonia adsorption capacity by 78.5 %, despite a minor reduction in specific surface area and pore size. Combined with the results of density functional theory and in-situ infrared, the enhanced adsorption ability can be ascribed to the functionalization increasing the polarity within the pore, thereby strengthening interactions with ammonia molecules through weak hydrogen bonding.
