Evaluation of insect-tea quality and screening of tea-producing insects through non-targeted metabolomics and gut microbiota analysis

| 英文摘要 | Insect tea is a unique beverage in China, jointly produced by tea-producing insects and their host plants. In this study, gut microbiota and non-targeted metabolomics analysis were conducted on insect tea produced by different tea-producing insects (Aglossa dimidiata and Martyria xeraula) feeding on the same host plant(Litsea coreana). Significant differences in gut microbiota were observed between the two tea-producing insects. A total of 203 differentially expressed metabolites were identified. Specifically, Mizhang insect tea, produced by A. dimidiata, exhibited richer gut microbiota, resulting in higher production of bioactive compounds, enhanced nutrient absorption, greater environmental adaptability, and superior nutritional value compared to Cangzhang insect tea. Therefore, A. dimidiata is identified as a more suitable tea-producing insect for breeding and largescale production of insect tea. This finding is significant for cultivating healthy and high-yielding tea-producing insects and promoting the large-scale production of insect tea. |
