Endophytic bacteria and rhizosphere bacteria jointly inhibited the outbreak of banana wilt

| 英文摘要 | Fusarium wilt of banana (FWB), caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense (Foc), poses a severe threat to global banana production. This study identified two novel biocontrol strains-Bacillus AIX-5 (isolated from banana rhizosphere) and endophytic Bacillus En-II-49 (from banana stems)-and investigated their antifungal mechanisms, field efficacy, and impact on soil microbiota.AIX-5 and En-II-49 exhibited complete inhibition against both FWB pathogen Foc race 1 (Foc1) and tropical race 4 (Foc-TR4) in plate assays (P < 0.0001).Secondary metabolites from these strains significantly altered soil microbial diversity, particularly reducing Proteobacteria and Gemmatimonadota abundance, which correlated with disease suppression.Liquid bioformulations of AIX-5 and En-II-49 reduced FWB incidence by 32.8 % (P < 0.0001), with a biocontrol efficacy of 5.2 %.Disease severity (DS) was markedly lowered, demonstrating practical applicability. Both strains produced auxins and siderophores, enhancing nutrient uptake and plant growth.Systemic resistance induction and antagonistic compound synthesis further contributed to pathogen suppression. |
