| 英文摘要 | Urbanization is a major non-climatic factor influencing temperature, and quantifying its contribution is essential for disentangling natural and anthropogenic drivers of recent warming. Based on the fifty-nine tree-ring maximum latewood density (MXD) datasets (as a natural reference unaffected by urbanization) in Northern Hemisphere and Climatic Research Unit (CRU) gridded temperature datasets from adjacent urban areas, we systematically examined discrepancies between them in the long-term trends. The results indicated that the treering MXD is correlated significantly with temperature at the interannual scale (first-order differencing correlation coefficient 0.635 +/- 0.112), while the rates of tree-ring growth were generally lower than the pace of urban warming over annual to decadal time scales, particularly in Americas and Asia, which are substantially influenced by urbanization. We estimated the urbanization contribution rate (UCR) for the Northern Hemisphere based on the difference in linear trends between temperature and tree-ring MXD. UCR averaged 75.26 % in Northern Hemisphere, with the highest regional mean value in Americas (81.85 %), followed by Europe (75.68 %) and Asia (66.73 %). The results indicated that the tree-ring MXD could be used as a natural proxy independent of urbanization influence. We provide a new approach for quantifying the potential bias caused by the urban heat island (UHI) effect. The approach not only helps refine assessments of global warming but also offers a new explanation for the reduced sensitivity of recent tree growth to temperature at high northern latitudes. |
