| 英文摘要 | Rare earth elements (REEs) are increasingly released into agricultural environments, posing potential risks to ecosystems and food crops, yet their combined phytotoxic mechanisms remain inadequately explored. In this study, we systematically investigated the individual and joint toxic effects of a light REE (cerium, Ce) and a heavy REE (yttrium, Y) on rice (Oryza sativa L.) roots. Acute toxicity assays were conducted using single and binary exposures, and dose-response relationships were modeled with both dissolved concentrations and free ion activities as dose descriptors. The results showed that Ce exhibited higher toxicity than Y, with lower EC50 values under both dose descriptors. Binary Ce-Y mixtures produced antagonistic effects, resulting in weaker inhibition of root elongation compared with single-element treatments. Predictions from the concentration addition (CA) and independent action (IA) models underestimated the observed inhibition, further confirming antagonistic interactions between Ce and Y. These findings provide insights into the interactive toxicity of REE mixture toxicity, demonstrate the influence of dose descriptors on phytotoxicity evaluation, and offer a quantitative basis for assessing the environmental risks of REEs in agricultural systems. |
