Evolution of agricultural territorial functions and synergistic and trade-off relationships in the mountainous areas of Three Gorges Reservoir Area

| 英文摘要 | Against the backdrop of rapid industrialization and urbanization, mountain agriculture in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area (TGRA) of Chongqing faces complex challenges in balancing multifunctional demands. Existing research has inadequately addressed the dynamic evolution of mountain agricultural territorial functions (MATF) and their interrelationships within this specific region. This study addresses this gap by constructing a comprehensive evaluation index system for MATF, tailored to the TGRA and covering agricultural production, economic development, social security, and ecological protection. Using a combination of the mean-variance weighting method, multi-dimensional evaluation diagnostic model, and structural equation modeling, we analyzed agricultural multifunctional trade-offs in 2005, 2013, and 2022, and explored the underlying synergistic mechanisms. Our temporal analysis reveals a shift from predominantly trade-off relationships in 2013 to synergistic ones by 2022. Spatially, the ecological protection function exhibits a relatively stable trade-off/ synergy relationship with the other three functions. The structural equation model's path analysis further demonstrates the staged evolution of functional trade-offs and synergies, following a progression from low to high levels of synergy. This study highlights the significance of understanding MATF evolution for promoting sustainable and coordinated mountain agricultural development. |
