Determination of Iron Isotopes in Biochemical Samples by MC-ICP-MSAand Results of Ten Biological Reference Materials

| 英文摘要 | Iron (Fe) isotope fractionation in biological systems offers a novel approach for investigating Fe homeostasis. Reliable determination of Fe isotope ratios in biological samples requires certified reference materials with well-constrained Fe isotopic signatures for quality assurance and interlaboratory validation. This study reported the first systematic investigation of Fe isotopic compositions for distributed biological reference materials. They consist of different terrestrial and marine plant, animal organs, such as leaves, soybean powder, nori, prawns and pork liver (GSV-1, GSV-3, GSB-6, GSB-7, GSB-17, GSB-14, GSB-18, GSB-28, GSB-29, and GBW10055). The results of Fe isotopic composition of prawns (GSB-28), pork liver (GSB-29) and full-fat soybean powder (GBW10055) in this study were consistent with literature data, confirming methodological accuracy. The Fe isotopic compositions were determined with a precision of +/- 0.07 parts per thousand (2SD) for delta Fe-56, validated through repeated measurements of the IRMM-014 standard. The results reveal that animal references (e.g., pork liver) exhibit a relatively lower delta Fe-56 values (-1.55 parts per thousand similar to-1.51%o), while plant references (e.g., leaves) yield higher delta Fe-56 values (-0.06 parts per thousand similar to 0.52%o). Combined with existing data, our results suggest that Fe isotope could provide a robust benchmark for future studies on Fe biogeochemical cycling, environmental tracing, and nutritional research. |
