| 英文摘要 | The central-western South China Sea is a typical region characterized by active mesoscale and submesoscale eddies, which play a crucial role in regulating the vertical distribution of light availability and primary productivity in the water column. This study analyzes the bio-optical properties of adjacent cyclonic (CE1) and anticyclonic (AE1) eddies in this region using satellite and in-situ observations from June 2024, focusing on underlying physical mechanisms. Results show that surface chlorophyll-a (Chl-a), particulate backscattering coefficient (b(bp)(440 nm)), and absorption coefficient due to colored dissolved and detrital organic matter (a(dg)(440 nm)) are significantly higher in the CE1 (0.083 +/- 0.037 mg/m(3), 1.38 x 10(-3) +/- 1.28 x 10(-3) m(-1), and 5.93 x 10(-3) +/- 1.46 x 10(-3)m(-1)) than in AE1 (0.14 +/- 0.013 mg/m(3), 1.46 x 10(-3) +/- 1.49 x 10(-4)m(-1) and 9.20 x 10(-3) +/- 9.21 x 10(-4)m(-1)), displaying a central-low, edge-high spatial pattern driven by the Vietnam Offshore Current (VOC). AE1 exhibits minimal spatial variation in surface bio-optical properties. Subsurface Chlorophyll Maximum Layer (SCML) depths follow the order: AE1 (99 m) > surrounding waters (86 m) > CE1 (75 m), while the highest SCML intensity is found in surrounding waters (0.427 +/- 0.069 mg/m(3)), followed by AE1 (0.409 +/- 0.095 mg/m(3)) and CE1 (0.382 +/- 0.118 mg/m(3)). a(dg) increases with depth, showing minor variations in both eddies, while b(bp) peaks induced by phytoplankton occur similar to 20 m shallower than Chl-a. A distinct scattering layer at 150-200 m, dominated by non-algal particles and associated with the cross-shelf transport driven by submesoscale filaments is consistently observed at the edge of CE1. Additionally, strong submesoscale fronts at CE1-AE1 boundary promote cross-isopycnal mixing, significantly influencing the vertical distribution of bio-optical properties. |
