Suppressing γ ′ precipitates coarsening at high volume fractions in a NiCoCr alloy by synergy of Co and Cr

| 英文摘要 | In this work, we investigated coarsening kinetics of gamma ' precipitates at 800-950 degrees C of a novel NiCoCr multicomponent alloy, which was designed to contain a high (Co+Cr) concentration and a high volume fraction of gamma ' precipitates. Experimental results demonstrated that gamma ' precipitates in the present NiCoCr alloy were more resistant to the thermal coarsening at temperatures above 900 degrees C as compared to conventional Ni-based alloys. Analysis using the modified Lifshitz-Slyozov-Wagner (LSW) model revealed that both Co and Cr could serve as the dominating species to control gamma ' precipitate coarsening. The synergy of Co and Cr led to the slower diffusion in the current NiCoCr alloy than those in dilute binary systems, responsible for the superior thermal stability of gamma ' precipitates. Our work provides a new guideline for exploring the compositional space of NiCoCr-based multi- component alloys with high volume fraction of gamma ' precipitates but low gamma ' coarsening rate. |
