Effects of precipitation on the stress corrosion crack initiation of alloy 718 in simulated pressurized water reactor primary environment

| 英文摘要 | The effect of precipitation on the stress corrosion cracking (SCC) initiation of Alloy 718 in high temperature hydrogenated water was investigated through slow strain rate tensile (SSRT) test. To clarify the roles of different secondary phases, different heat treatments were applied to separate the precipitation of those phases. There is a tradeoff between the mechanical strength and SCC resistance. Both intergranular delta phase and intragranular gamma '/gamma '' phases can enhance the mechanical strength but decrease the SCC resistance of alloy. That is because the precipitates (especially the intergranular delta phase) can be preferentially oxidized due to the high content of active elements. Hence, the grain boundary decorated with delta phase would be significantly degraded. Moreover, both precipitates (especially the intragranular gamma '/gamma '' phases) can aggravate the degree of localized deformation. Such enhanced deformation localization can induce stress concentration and promote SCC initiation at grain boundary. |
