Mitigating cross-modal interference in multimodal fake news detection via adaptive feature optimization

英文摘要This paper introduces Adaptive Feature Matching Optimization (AFMO) for multimodal fake news detection. AFMO integrates modality-specific feature extraction with dual outlier filtering and a simulated-annealing feature-selection module to optimize the fusion of heterogeneous signals. Its main contribution is an adaptive selection mechanism that suppresses cross-modal interference, thereby improving discrimination between authentic and fake content. Experiments on Weibo, GossipCop, and PolitiFact show that AFMO consistently outperforms recent competitive baselines. On Weibo, AFMO achieves 92.23% accuracy, supporting the claim that mitigating cross-modal interference can materially improve veracity prediction.
