| 英文摘要 | Biological invasions are widely recognized as a major driver of global biodiversity loss. Understanding the mechanisms underlying successful invasions is essential for developing cost-effective management strategies. However, most existing studies have focused on specific invasion stages, without applying a unified framework across all stages. In the present study, we adopted the framework of environmental niche to investigate the associations of niche attributes with the success at all invasion stages, using freshwater megafish as the focal organismal group. Our findings revealed that species with broader niches were more likely to be introduced, establish viable populations, and exert more severe impacts. Moreover, introduced species were more likely originating from regions with larger annual variations in temperature and with lower precipitation. Introduced sites falling within species' native niche margin could favor the establishment of introduced populations. These results highlight the promise of applying the framework of environmental niche in elucidating the mechanisms underlying invasions. Applying environmental niche framework with other tools (e.g., the Environmental Impact Classification for Alien Taxa framework) for assessing invasion success can facilitate the development of proactive and effective strategies to advance the prevention and management of introduced species. |
